 The New Castle County Department of Public Safety, Division of Police will host the 2nd New Castle County Police Summer Youth Camp August 11 through 15th, 2008.  The camp is for children 12 to 15 years old who have an interest in exploring careers in law enforcement

Mother Charged with Felony Assault, Endangering the Welfare of Two Children

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Hazel McCaslin, a 29 year old female who resides in the unit block of Raven Turn in the community of Sparrow Run.  She has been charged with striking her four year old son about the face with a “fly swatter” and later leaving him and his seven month old son home alone while she went out to get food for herself around midnight.

Police Discover “Gaboon Viper” inside an Apartment during Domestic Dispute

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Anthony Conway, a 23 year old male who resides in the unit block of Peachtree Road in the Fieldcrest Apartments.  He has been charged with offensive touching and menacing his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.  While investigating the disturbance, police located several glass tanks which were housing snakes.  One of the snakes was identified as a “Gaboon Viper” one of the 10 deadliest snakes in the world.

New Castle County Police have arrest warrants on file for Wayne “Disco” Thomas, a 38 year old male whose last known address was in the 300 block of E. Hazeldale Avenue in Minquadale.  He is wanted for punching a woman about the face and stealing her purse early this morning in New Castle.

Police Canine Passes Away Peacefully

 

New Castle County Police Canine “Haito” passed away peacefully today with his handler and his family by his side.  He spent his final hours this morning playing “ball” with his partner and several other police canine officers from a number of surrounding police agencies.

Suspect Attempts to Remove Officer’s Gun, Arrested for Drugs, Weapons Offenses

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Terrance M. Jackson, a 19 year old male who resides in the unit block of Seminole Avenue in Claymont, DE.  He has been charged with multiple drug and weapon offenses after he fought with an officer and attempted to remove his weapon from his holster.  Jackson was later found to be in possession of over 10 grams of crack cocaine, marijuana and a loaded .32 caliber revolver.

“Uncle Al” Charged with Rape, 9 and 10 Year Old Female Victims

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Alva Calhoun, a 65 year old male who resides in the unit block of Chippendale Circle in the community of Brookside Park.  He has been charged with rape and related offenses after sexually assaulting two young girls while they were staying with him (their neighbor) who the girls knew as Uncle Al.

Soccer Player Sought for Biting Sports Official

 

New Castle County Police have an arrest warrant on file for Rannord A. Jones, a 28 year old male who resides in the unit block of Freedom Trail in New Castle.  He is wanted for felony assault after he intentionally bit a sports official who had given him a “red card” for unsportsmanlike conduct.

New Castle County Police presently have arrest warrants on file for John Hinkle, an 18 year old male who resides in the 200 block of Courtney Drive in Elkton, MD.  He has been linked to at least four residential burglaries that have occurred in Brookside and Bear communities.

Brother and Sister Charged with Burglary

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Kele (20) and Melissa Barry (23) who both reside in the unit block of Augusta Drive in Newark, DE.   They have each been charged with burglary and drug related offenses after they were linked to a Sunday morning burglary and later taunted the officer to “get a search warrant.”

Suspect Arrested While Pushing Stolen Lawn Equipment Back to Motel

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Kurt Learn, a 45 year old male who resides in the Glen Motel located in the 1100 block of N. Pulaski Highway.  He was taken into custody after police found him pushing a stolen lawn mover, power washer and hand tools while walking on Pigeon Run Road early this morning.

The New Castle County Safe Streets Team has arrested Johnnie Dubose Jr., a 25 year old male who resides in the unit block of Mary Ella Drive in Wilmington.  He has been charged with felony drug violations and unlawfully dealing with a child after probation officers found 51 bags of crack cocaine and a four year old child inside his home.

The New Castle County Safe Streets Team has arrested Sharee Williams, a 28 year old female who resides in the unit block of Baylis Street in the community of Hampton Green.  She has been charged with felony drug offenses after Safe Streets officers found 123 grams of marijuana inside her home during an administrative search.

New Castle County Police have arrested Franklin Mullins, a 28 year old male who resides in the Mount Pleasant Trailer Court in Middletown.  He has been charged with raping a six year old female four years ago while he temporarily stayed with her parents in 2001.

Ice Cream Truck Driver Robbed, One Arrested, Others Sought

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Calvin Harper, a 20 year old male who resides in the unit block of Oakmont Drive in the community of Oakmont.  He has been charged with robbery and related offenses after he and several other male subjects held up an ice cream truck driver and stole proceeds from ice cream sales.

New Castle County Police Host Training with
The National Police Canine Association

The New Castle County Police Department is hosting a regional training opportunity for police canines and handlers over the next four days.  The training, provided by the National Police Canine Association, offers nationally accepted certifications throughout the year, across the United States.  This afternoon, 26 canines and handlers will “embark” on field training at the Delaware Technical and Community College in Stanton, Delaware.  Officials will be available for media comments at the training today.

New Castle County Police have arrested Emanuel Chambers, a 61 year old male who resides in the Wellington Arms Apartments in Newark.  He has been charged with DUI and weapon related offenses after he struck a parked car in the parking lot of the New Castle County Public Safety Building and was later found to be in possession of a handgun.

New Castle County Police have arrested Rafael Diodonet, a 41 year old male who resides in the unit block of Stephanie Drive in Bear, DE.  He was wanted for recklessly driving away from two officers and nearly striking both with his car.  He is also a fugitive who is wanted by the New York City Police Department.

New Castle County Police have arrested Paul A. Norris, a 47 year old male who resides in the 200 block of N. Patrice Road in Newark, DE.  He has been charged with felony drug violations after an officer stopped his vehicle parked in an industrial complex in front of a closed business and later recovered drugs.

Drunken Cyclist Pulls Gun on Man, Crashes into Police Cruiser

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Arismendy Crime-Hughes, a 24 year old male who resides in the 300 block of N. Franklin Street in the City of Wilmington.  He has been charged with multiple weapon offenses after he pointed a gun at another man in the Knollwood community and later attempted to flee from police.

Bandit Catches True Bandits, Seizes $8,000 in Drug Proceeds

 

Police Canine “Bandit,” a 5 year old German Shepherd, has had a successful crime fighting month of May having seized $8,000 in drug proceeds, apprehended two armed robbery suspects, a fugitive car thief, and recovered stolen property from a burglary that had not yet been reported.

Man Charged with Stealing Copper Downspout from Westover Hills

 

New Castle County Police have arrested Francis DelCampo, a 51 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Matthew Avenue in the community of Elmhurst.  He has been charged with felony theft and related offenses after he stole a copper downspout from a home during the daylight hours and then nearly striking the homeowner with his car as he fled the residence.

New Castle County Police have arrested Priest D. Aiken, a 36 year old male who resides in the unit block of Glisten Court in Newark, DE.  He and his girlfriend, Deeanna J. Custis (age 29, of the same address and an EMS Captain) have been charged with embezzling funds from the Belvedere Fire Company EMS account.

Murder Suspect Arrested in Philadelphia

 

A second suspect has been arrested for the slaying of Kevin Rafferty who was shot to death on Saturday, July 22, 2006.  The suspect, Kevin Jerome Robinson, was arrested Monday afternoon by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department.

New Castle County Police have arrested Victor "Bruce" Landy, a 26 year old male who resides in the 1600 block of W. 6th Street in the City of Wilmington.  He has been charged with murder in the first degree and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony after he fatally stabbed a male victim during a verbal altercation in the Hampton Walk Apartments.

New Castle County Police have arrested Sandy Golden, a 20 year old male who resides in the 900 block of Lexington Road in Newark.  He has been charged with felony drug offenses after he and his friend were stopped by police for walking on the roadway without a light and later found to have 31 individual packages of crack cocaine on his possession.

Police Warn of Public of Rash of Residential Burglaries

68% of Homes, Sheds, and Garages Left Unsecured

 

During the week of May 5th through May 11th, the New Castle County Police Department investigated 28 residential burglaries throughout the county.  Investigators have found that 19 of the break-ins occurred at homes and sheds that were left unsecured or completely open.  Over the years, the police department has pleaded with residents to lock your homes, cars, shed and any other locations where valuables are kept.  Once again, we would like to remind the public of the importance of securing your valuables.

Ten Foot Tall Giraffe Statue Stolen, Other Inanimate Objects Missing

 

During the past ten days, the New Castle County Police has investigated thefts of at least three statues that have been stolen from homes in New Castle and Newark and a business in Pike Creek.  The most recent theft investigation involved the larceny of a 10 foot tall giraffe stolen from the Delcastle Miniature Golf Course on Millcreek Road.
